IACS has revised Recommendation 46 "BULK CARRIERS– Guidance and Information on Bulk Cargo Loading and Discharging to Reduce the Likelihood of Over-stressing the Hull Structure" in July 2018.
IACS, International Association of Classification Societies, has recently updated their Guidance and Information on Bulk Cargo Loading and Discharging to Reduce the Likelihood of Over-stressing the Hull Structure - Rev.1 July 2018 (IACS Recommendation 46).
The publication is intended to provide guidance and information on the loading and discharging of bulk carriers to remain within the limitations as specified by the Class to reduce the likelihood of over-stressing the ship's structure.
A review of the potential problems that could be encountered during cargo operations is presented. Guidance is given on the measures that should be taken to monitor and control cargo and ballasting operations in order to reduce the possibility of over-stressing the ship's structure.
The publication is free for download here.
Veritas Petroleum Services (VPS) publish regular Bunker Alerts based entirely on fuel samples and have kindly permitted BIMCO’s Members to access this information.
The Bunker Alerts are not intended to be an evaluation of overall bunker quality in the port or area concerned, but usually highlight a specific parameter within the fuel which has raised a quality issue.
All of BIMCO's most widely used contracts and clauses as well as advice on managing charters and business partners.
